Ange’s professional creative practice originated in textiles. She constructed purses and keepsakes using Harris Tweed and handwoven tweeds from local weavers. Insights into the history and traditions of these materials were gained through visits to crofts in the Outer Hebrides, alongside an understanding of the environment and sources of inspiration behind the woven patterns.
Working as a sole trader, Ange sold her work through social media. A key element of her practice was a meditation on the life of the item – where and when it would inhabit its new role, and how that impact would be felt by the user.
This theme continues within Ange’s ceramics practice, particularly in the development of Please Do Touch, to be exhibited in the 2nds Out Exhibition.
